Das Hafenhaus ist die neueste architektonische Perle von Antwerpen. Dieses hippe Gebäude mit Wurzeln in der Vergangenheit ist der neue Hauptsitz der Hafengesellschaft Antwerpen.
Im Hafenhaus kommen Vergangenheit und Zukunft des Hafens von Antwerpen zusammen. Der untere Teil war früher eine Feuerwehrkaserne, die sich am äußersten Ende der Stadt befand. Bei der Renovierung wurde diese wunderschöne Kaserne erhalten, und heute markiert dieser Ort den Beginn des ausgedehnten Hafengebiets. Ein deutlicheres Symbol für das Wachstum des Hafens von Antwerpen gibt es nicht.
Zusammen mit einem auffälligen und modernen Überbau in Form eines Diamanten – ein monumentaler Entwurf des berühmten Architekturbüros Zaha Hadid Architects – bildet das Gebäude das vollständige Hafenhaus. Es ist eine Metapher für den Hafen des 21. Jahrhunderts: einen Hafen mit einer großen Geschichte, der für die Zukunft gerüstet ist.
Antwerpen in Belgien ist eine Stadt mit reicher Vergangenheit, die ihr ohne Zweifel die günstige Lage mit direktem Zugang zur Nordsee über die Schelde gebracht hat. Im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert führte das sogar dazu, dass Antwerpen eine der größten Städte der Welt war, somit wichtige Handelsmetropole und auch bedeutendes kulturellen Zentrum in Europa. Auch heute ist diese Vergangenheit in der Innenstadt mit ihren vielen historischen Gebäuden noch deutlich spürbar. Nach wie vor spielt auch der Handel eine große Rolle, vor allem durch den Hafen, der (gemessen am Landungsaufkommen) der zweitgrößte in Europa nach Rotterdam ist. Antwerpen ist eine Stadt am Wasser, in der die Seefahrt omnipräsent ist.

The Hafenhaus is Antwerp's newest architectural pearl. This hip building with roots in the past is the new headquarters of the Antwerp port company. In the port house, the past and future of the port of Antwerp come together. The lower part used to be a fire station, which was at the far end of the city. During the renovation, this beautiful barracks was preserved, and today this place marks the beginning of the extensive port area. There is no clearer symbol of the port of Antwerp's growth. Together with a striking and modern superstructure in the form of a diamond - a monumental design by the famous architectural office Zaha Hadid Architects - the building forms the complete port house. It is a metaphor for the port of the 21st century: a port with a great history that is ready for the future.
Antwerp in Belgium is a city with a rich past that has undoubtedly given it its convenient location with direct access to the North Sea via the Scheldt. In the 15th and 16th centuries, this even led to Antwerp being one of the largest cities in the world, an important trading metropolis and also an important cultural center in Europe.
